Linda Kelly's story's one to share,
A 67-year-old with cancer, but still with flair,
Advanced breast cancer, but a new pill in sight,
Gave her extra years, and a chance to take flight.
She says it lets her live a normal life too,
Forget the cancer, and all it can do,
The new drug capivasertib, a game-changer it seems,
Recommended for NHS use, and funded with ease.
Over 1,000 women can benefit from this new aid,
Their cancer slowed, and their lives not delayed,
Linda's a keen gardener, and keeps active with zest,
Cycling 60 miles a week, and doing pilates to rest.
She's had fantastic results, with minimal side effects too,
Allowed her to travel, and make plans anew,
A trip to New Zealand, and one to the US in store,
Thanks to the new pill, she's got more time to explore.
Prof Nick Turner says it's a very effective option,
Many months or years, it can make a big condition,
Substantially delay chemotherapy, with its side effects so dire,
A kinder, better treatment, that's what they aspire.
