In UK gardens, a sight to see,
Fewer starlings visit, a concern for you and me.
The RSPB says it's a worrying sign,
Since 1979, the numbers have declined.
The Big Garden Birdwatch took place one weekend in January's chill,
Recorded the lowest starling numbers, a story to fulfill.
A common visitor, with a sharp decline since the 60s past,
The starling's a bird we must try to save at last.
Their winter acrobatics, a spectacle to behold,
Flying in flocks, or murmurations, stories untold.
Beccy Speight said, though the results are a concern,
We can all do our bit, to help these birds return.
Emma Marsh said it's a shame, the starling's a bird so grand,
Charismatic and beautiful, across this land.
Small actions in our gardens, can help them thrive and grow,
Avoiding pesticides, and letting lawns be natural, don't you know.
A mix of short and long grass, helps them watch out for predators too,
Dandelions and clovers, provide food for them to chew.
Nest boxes are helpful, to give them a place to rest,
Helping starlings and wildlife,
