In the land of steel, a tale did unfold,
Of British Steel, and a story to be told.
A question did linger, a question so grand,
Who would blink first, and take control of the land?
The government and Jingye, in talks did abide,
But coal was running out, and time was their guide.
They offered taxpayers' cash, to buy the raw material too,
But a billion-pound bailout, was what Jingye wanted to do.
The government's decision, to take control on a Saturday night,
Kept the flames alive, and the industry in sight.
But the Chinese owners, would remain in their place,
And taxpayers would cough up, to save the steel industry's face.
Jingye could get their act together, and take the company back,
But insiders say that's unlikely, and a slim chance to attack.
Another company could swoop in, to rescue the business with ease,
But the cost of energy, and the blast furnaces' life, would bring it to its knees.
The government's plan, was just a sticking plaster so thin,
But nationalisation, was the direction they'd been spinning within.
The prime minister, had come to believe, that taking control was the way,
To preserve the steel industry,
