The UK economy grew with a happy face,
More than predicted, what a wonderful pace,
0.5% expansion, a strong month to share,
Services sector shining, with no single care.
Exports to the US increased with glee,
£500m more, a boost for all to see,
Businesses rushed to beat the tariffs' might,
Before they came into effect, on that fateful night.
Tariffs on steel and aluminium, a challenge to face,
But the UK economy showed a brave, steady pace,
A 10% tariff on goods, a worry to abide,
But the economy grew, with a spirit inside.
The ONS reported, with a happy grin,
A 23% increase in goods flowing in,
From the UK to the US, a trade so fine,
A boost for the economy, all the time.
William Bain, a trade policy expert, said with cheer,
"UK firms increased exports, ahead of the tariffs' fear,"
Economists predicted, just 0.1% growth to share,
But the UK economy surprised, with a 0.5% to spare.
