In London's streets, a report did say,
Decriminalise cannabis, for a better day.
Small amounts for use, no longer a crime,
A change in law, to ease the grime.
Lord Falconer led the commission's way,
42 recommendations, to brighten the day.
Remove natural cannabis from the MDA list,
And treat it as a controlled substance, to persist.
The law, a problem, for ethnic communities too,
Stop and search, a reason, to cause them to feel blue.
Young black men, disproportionately affected, it's true,
A change in law, to help them, and see them through.
The deputy PM, said no to the plan,
We won't change our policy, that's the government's hand.
But Sadiq Khan, the mayor, stood tall and proud,
A compelling case, for decriminalisation, avowed.
David Raynes, spoke out, with a warning so clear,
Don't send the wrong message, that cannabis is less dear.
But the report's authors, said they just want to be fair,
And reduce the harm, that comes with cannabis, with care.
The report's recommendations, are many and grand,
Improve public health, and education, across the land.
Fair access to medical cannabis, for those in need,
And monitor international developments, with speed.
Regulate cannabis, under the PSA, they say,
Exposing fewer people, to stop and search, each day.
Tackle racial disproportionality, and make it right,
Decriminalise cannabis, and bring in the light.
