In Scunthorpe, a town so fine,
A steel plant's in trouble, oh what a bind.
British Steel's at risk, it's time to act fast,
Or the UK's steel industry will surely be past.
Two blast furnaces, huge and so grand,
Produce virgin steel, the best in the land.
But supplies are low, and costs are so high,
The plant's in danger, and the future's unsure why.
The government's called MPs back to the floor,
To pass an emergency law, and save the plant once more.
2,700 jobs at risk, a huge number indeed,
The UK's steel industry, in a precarious creed.
The company's in trouble, with losses so steep,
£700,000 a day, a figure that makes us weep.
Jingye's the owner, a Chinese steel firm so bold,
But the plant's in danger, and the future's growing old.
The government's intervening, with a plan so grand,
To keep the plant running, and save the steel industry's hand.
An emergency law, to keep the furnaces aglow,
And protect the workers, and the industry's future to grow.
