In London's streets, a problem's found,
Knife crime's high, and violence's around.
The Met's chief says, with a worried face,
"We need more cash, to fill the empty space."
The government's plan, to halve the crime,
Is a noble goal, but needs some time.
Sir Mark Rowley says, with a knowing grin,
"Ambition and money, go hand in hand within."
The police forces, are smaller now,
Compared to the past, with a shrinking vow.
Their model's outdated, it's time to reform,
And make the police, more efficient and norm.
The Home Office says, with a confident tone,
"We're backing the police, to keep the streets alone."
But Sir Mark says, with a hint of despair,
"We need more money, to show we truly care."
The Chancellor's review, will decide the fate,
Of policing's future, and the money they create.
The government's plan, to put more bobbies on the beat,
Is a promise made, but will they keep it neat?
The police face challenges, from online threats and more,
And social volatility, that they can't ignore.
The riots last summer, were a wake-up call,
To invest in policing, before it's too late for all.
The police chiefs warn, of a looming crisis,
If the government doesn't act, with a more serious wish.
They need more money, and a better plan,
To keep the streets safe, and the people in hand.
