In Scotland's south, a sight to see,
Golden eagles venture forth with glee,
From their Highlands home, they take to flight,
Back to England, where they once took flight.
In Northumberland, a surprise in store,
A young male eagle, Talla, roams once more,
Ian Glendinning spotted him with delight,
A colossal bird, a wondrous sight.
Thirty metres away, it sat so still,
A rocky outcrop, its chosen hill,
Before Ian could snap a photo with glee,
It glided away, a majestic spree.
Its return brings hope, a new nest to claim,
Thanks to the SSGEP, a project to reclaim,
The South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project's might,
Has brought back eagles, a wondrous sight.
With satellite tagging, they track their way,
Some venture south, to England's day,
Northumberland, the North Pennines too,
The Lake District, and Yorkshire, they break through.
Their numbers dwindled, due to human hand,
Persecution, a threat to their land,
But now they're back, with a gentle stride,
Exploring England, with a curious pride.
Dr. Cat Barlow, a welcome sight,
Says they'll settle, in remote upland light,
A visual map, of their travels so grand,
A new home, where they'll take a stand.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust, a charity so fine,
Hopes to see eagles, in their land divine,
The Rothbury Estate, a haven to share,
A place for eagles, with no one to scare.
Mike Pratt's dream, a golden eagle's nest,
In Northumberland, where they can rest,
A sense of wonder, a feeling so true,
A golden eagle's return, a sight anew.
