In the land of sweets, a change was made,
Mars stopped using titanium dioxide, a colour displayed,
In US Skittles, it's no longer found,
A move that follows years of criticism all around.
The EU banned it in 2022 with a frown,
Over health risks, a decision was made, no need to frown,
Mars said it would stop using artificial colours bright,
In 2016, a promise made, to consumers in sight.
The company didn't comment on the change so fine,
If consumers would notice, a difference divine,
Titanium dioxide, a pigment so white,
Used in bakery products, and sweets in sight.
Mars disputed claims, of health risks so high,
A white pigment used, in many products to buy,
Allowed in many countries, including the US too,
But concerns still linger, for me and for you.
In California, a ban was tried and failed,
But efforts in other states, continue to prevail,
The White House report, spotlighted the issue so bright,
Titanium dioxide, a concern in the morning light.
Mars made the change, without a reason so grand,
But a spokesperson said, quality is their stand,
Their products are safe, and meet the high standards so fine,
A commitment to quality, that will forever shine.
