In a nursery, a baby did lay,
Genevieve, nine months old, in a tragic way.
Swaddled tight, on a beanbag so fine,
Left unattended, her life did decline.
For 90 minutes, no one came near,
The worker forgot, and Genevieve did fear.
Asphyxiation took her life that day,
A tragedy that would never fade away.
Her parents, Katie and John, did say,
Life without Genevieve is unbearable each day.
They thought nothing like this would ever be,
But now they're fighting for change, for you and me.
Figures show, almost 20,000 incidents so dire,
In England's nurseries, in the past five years' fire.
75 reports each week, a number so high,
Including deaths, and injuries, a cry to the sky.
Ofsted's efforts, to ensure nurseries report,
May have led to the rise, a figure to abort.
The Early Years Alliance says, most providers care,
But breaches are rare, and safety is always there.
