On the ocean so deep and so wide,
A submersible named Titan did reside,
It was meant to take people to see,
The Titanic wreck, a sight to be.
But on June 18, 2023, disaster did strike,
The sub imploded, a fatal mistake to make,
Five people on board lost their lives that day,
Their dreams of adventure turned to dismay.
The CEO, Stockton Rush, and his crew,
Paid the ultimate price, a tragedy so true,
The British explorer, Hamish Harding too,
And Shahzada Dawood, with his son, Suleman, in view.
Their families still grieve, their loss so great,
The memories of that fateful day, forever to wait,
The sub's support ship, a witness to the sound,
A door slamming shut, a noise all around.
The crew on the ship, in shock and dismay,
Did not know what had happened, that day,
The sub's computer, a message did send,
But the noise of the implosion, was already to amend.
The US Coast Guard, an investigation did start,
To find out what went wrong, and play its part,
The sub's design, a carbon fibre hull,
A material so fragile, under pressure so cruel.
The layers of carbon fibre, did start to break,
A year before the disaster, a warning to make,
Delamination, a process so slow,
But fatal in the end, as the sub did go.
The crew on the sub, did not know what to fear,
As the hull started to fail, and the sub did appear,
To be in trouble, but they did not know,
The danger that lurked, as the sub did go.
The US Coast Guard, has identified the time,
When the hull started to fail, a fatal crime,
A year before the disaster, a warning did sound,
But the crew did not listen, and the sub did go down.
