In the NHS, a disaster did unfold,
Contaminated blood, a story to be told.
Thousands infected, with HIV and more,
A scandal so bad, it left us poor.
In the 70s and 80s, the mistakes were made,
Systemic failings, that the public has paid.
Around 3,000 died, a tragic fate,
Their families left with a sorrowful state.
The inquiry report, a year ago now,
Said the scandal was avoidable, somehow.
But the compensation, it's moving slow,
Only 100 paid, and the community's in tow.
Campaigners gathered, with a letter to share,
To the prime minister, their concerns to declare.
They're dying at pace, with no end in sight,
The government must act, with all its might.
Diana Johnson, a minister so kind,
Sympathized with the campaigners, she left behind.
She said it's disappointing, the slow pace they keep,
But the money's there, it's time to make it leap.
Jacqueline Wrixton, with a story to tell,
Infected with hepatitis C, her health did fell.
She said it's been a year, since the recommendations were made,
But still no payment, their suffering's not paid.
The government's committed, to delivering with care,
Compensation as swift, as they can share.
But the campaigners say, it's time to act fast,
Their lives are at stake, and the clock is aghast.
