In the US, a bitter taste is found,
As coffee prices start to go around,
Tariffs squeeze the local cafes tight,
A morning latte's no longer in sight.
The queues are shorter, the customers few,
As imported beans become more expensive too,
A $100bn market's starting to decline,
A change is coming, a bitter sign.
Jorge Prudencio's bakery's in a squeeze,
His coffee supplier's raised the price, if you please,
A 10% tariff's caused quite a fray,
His bakery's prices will rise, come what may.
In Washington DC, the coffee shops abound,
But prices are rising, all over the town,
Kamal Mortada's seen the effect with a sigh,
Less customers for coffee, a sad goodbye.
Inflation's high, the prices are too,
A 40-year record, a number anew,
Ground coffee's price reached a record high,
A dollar more than last year, a bitter cry.
The manager's changed his own habits, you see,
Brews coffee at home, instead of a trip to Starbucks, a spree,
The prices have risen, the customers few,
A sad state of affairs, for the coffee crew.
