In Texas, a law has been signed with flair,
By Governor Abbott, with safety in the air.
Apple and Google must verify users' age,
Before apps can be downloaded, a new stage.
Minors will need parental approval, don't you know,
Before making in-app purchases, a rule to grow.
Google and Apple opposed, with a frown on their face,
A law that requires personal info, a difficult place.
"We believe there's a better way," Apple said with a sigh,
To keep kids safe, without asking users to apply.
But Texas says it's a must, to keep young users tight,
A law to protect them, day and night.
Utah was first, with a similar law in place,
A conservative state, with a safety pace.
The Kids Online Safety Act, a federal law in sight,
KOSA, a bill that would keep young users tight.
But it stalled in Congress, with no clear way,
To pass the bill, and make it stay.
So the states took action, with their own laws to make,
To keep young users safe, for their own sake.
Apple supports KOSA, but opposes the Texas law,
A law that requires personal info, a difficult draw.
Meta lobbies for Apple and Google to take the blame,
For verifying users' age, and keeping them in the game.
Tim Cook called Governor Abbott, to try and make it stop,
But the law is set to take effect, on January 1st, don't you hop.
A law to protect young users, a safety net to cast,
A law that will make a difference, at last.
