In England's clinics, a problem's found,
Children with excess weight, a number profound,
From deprived areas, they're often in need,
A health concern that's hard to proceed.
Their BMI's high, a worrying sight,
Over 40, severely obese, a plight,
4,800 under-18s, a number so grand,
Referred to clinics, a helping hand.
Paediatricians, psychologists too,
Dieticians join, a team to see them through,
Mental health support, a care so fine,
For children with health conditions that entwine.
In 32 clinics, a study's been made,
40% of children, in deprived areas they've stayed,
Autism, learning disabilities, a high rate,
Liver disease, complications that create.
A shocking truth, Professor Kenny did say,
Invisible problems, a daily dismay,
Not attending school, a future unsure,
Employment and life, a burden to endure.
Digital tech, a new way to try,
Weight loss support, a trend to apply,
Smart scales, a secret to share,
A mobile app, with data so fair.
But Tam Fry says, "It's about time, you see,
Routine weighing, a habit to be,
Regular intervals, a trend to note,
A child's health, a graph to promote."
Weight loss jabs, a new way to fight,
5-16% weight loss, a promising sight,
But NICE has not approved, a caution so wise,
For children's health, a careful, careful guise.
BMI, a measure, not always so fine,
For adults and children, a calculation divine,
Waist circumference, a better guide, they say,
A health check, for a healthy way.
