In England's land of green and fair,
Rules to save wildlife were put in place with care,
Developers must give back to nature's space,
A 10% gain in biodiversity to show their pace.
But now the government plans to ease the way,
For builders on smaller sites, come what may,
They'll simplify the rules, and make it more light,
To build homes fast, without a long, hard fight.
Angela Rayner's the one who's in the lead,
With a plan to help small builders take the speed,
She wants to level the playing field, you see,
And make it easier for them to build with glee.
But critics say, "Don't you dare to compromise,
On environmental rules, and let nature's voice demise,
We need to protect the land, and all its might,
Not pave it over, with concrete in sight."
The government says, "We're not turning back the clock,
We're just simplifying things, and making it more rock,
Solid for small builders, and the environment too,
We'll reach our goal of 1.5 million homes, it's true."
But will it work, or will it all go wrong?
Only time will tell, as the story's yet to be sung,
The Wildlife and Countryside Link says, "Don't you see,
These changes could be disastrous, for you and me."
