Young people sleep, a study did say,
Better brain function comes with a longer day.
They tracked the sleep of 3,222 kids with care,
And found that more sleep was truly beyond compare.
Those who slept the least had poorer brain power,
Their memories were weak, their hearts did cower.
But those who slept the most, had brains so bright,
Their memories shone like stars in the night.
They used FitBit devices to track their sleep,
And found that more sleep made their brains leap.
The group that slept the longest, performed the best,
Their brains were healthy, their hearts at rest.
Their brain volume was larger, their function so grand,
They solved problems with ease, in this sleep-filled land.
But did more sleep mean better school grades too?
The study found none, but that's not what they knew.
They gave them tests, in reading and in math,
And found that the sleepiest group performed with a splash.
Their vocabulary was better, their problem-solving too,
A good night's sleep made their brains shine through.
The researchers said, "This is a wake-up call,
For young people to sleep, and have a good fall.
Their bodies need rest, to grow strong and healthy too,
A good night's sleep is key, for a brain that's new.
So let's all get to bed, a bit earlier tonight,
And sleep for a longer time, with all our might.
Our brains will thank us, our bodies will too,
For a good night's sleep, is the best thing to do.
