In Essex, a trust did try,
To hide the truth, and let people die,
Their reputation was all they'd mind,
Not learning lessons, but just to shine.
A charity director did speak out loud,
Against the trust's actions, so unimpressed and proud,
Deborah Coles said it was a pattern so bold,
To prevent reports, and keep the truth untold.
A public inquiry was called to place,
To look into deaths, and find the cause,
Over 2,000 people, a number so grand,
Treated by NHS services, in Essex's land.
The trust apologized, for the lives they'd lost,
But still, the issue remains, and the truth is the cost,
Ms Coles said it's not just about the past,
But learning lessons, to make the future last.
The trust's concern, was reputation so dear,
Not learning from mistakes, but just to appear,
Clear, that's not right, and it's not just a test,
But a matter of life, and doing what's best.
A Department spokesperson, did try to say,
That the inquiry's purpose, is to hear what's to say,
But Ms Coles was angry, and frustrated too,
At the lack of action, and the system anew.
The inquiry will continue, for years to come,
To hear the stories, and to find the sum,
Of the lessons learned, and the changes made,
To prevent such deaths, and to keep people safe.
The trust's CEO apologized, for the lives they'd lost,
And said they're sorry, for the pain they've crossed,
But still, the issue remains, and the truth is the key,
To making changes, and setting people free.
The inquiry's purpose, is to find the cause,
And to make recommendations, to prevent such pause,
A chance for learning, and for growth to begin,
To make the system better, and to keep people within.
