Teachers in England, a tale to be told,
Rejected a pay rise, their anger to unfold.
2.8% was the offer, but they said no way,
Their union's ballot showed a different day.
93.7% voted against, a resounding sound,
83.4% said they'd strike, their voices all around.
The Education Secretary, she did say,
Any strike would be indefensible, come what may.
But the teachers are not just talking, they're bold,
Their union's leader, a message to be told.
"Listen to our profession, change course now," he said,
Invest in education, the future to be fed.
The government's offer, a 2.8% rise,
Too little, too late, the teachers realize.
Their work is hard, the demands are high,
A pay rise is needed, or they'll say goodbye.
The NEU's ballot, a sign of the times,
Teachers are frustrated, their voices in rhymes.
They want a fair deal, a pay rise that's right,
Not just 2.8%, but something to excite.
